Weddings in Jacksonville and the beaches
Jacksonville Wedding Photographer
I photograph weddings across Jacksonville, from downtown and the river neighbourhoods out to the beaches. I live just south of the city, so none of it is a special trip.
Jacksonville is an unusual place to get married because it is really several places. A riverside wedding in San Marco and a barefoot one at Jacksonville Beach are different days with different light, and the photographs should look like it.

How I cover a Jacksonville wedding
I start with getting ready and stay through to whatever ending you have planned. In between I keep out of the way. The ceremony is yours, not a photo set, and I shoot it like that.
The part I will ask you to protect is thirty minutes for portraits near sunset. In Jacksonville that is often easier than people expect, because so many venues are on water facing west.
Areas I cover
Jacksonville is spread out, and travel time matters to your timeline more than it matters to my price. Everything below is a normal drive from me and carries no travel charge.
- Jacksonville, including downtown, Riverside and San Marco
- Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach
- Ponte Vedra and Nocatee
- St. Johns County, where I am based
Coverage and what it costs
The same three packages apply wherever the wedding is. Six, eight or ten hours, a private digital gallery with every one, and a $200 deposit to hold the date.
If you are deciding between six and eight hours, the question is usually whether you are getting ready at the venue. If you are not, eight is the safer number.
Getting the timeline right in a city this size
The mistake I see most often in Jacksonville is underestimating the drive. Twenty minutes on a map between a downtown hotel and a beach venue can be fifty on a Saturday in October.
Build the drive into the timeline rather than into the portrait window, and the whole day stops feeling rushed. If you send me a draft timeline before you finalise it, I will tell you where it is going to break.
What is included, whichever package you pick
Every wedding gets the same care, and the differences between the packages are hours rather than a list of things withheld from the cheaper option. I do not sell the photographs back to you afterwards.
You get continuous coverage for the hours you booked, editing on everything delivered, and a private online gallery you can download from in full resolution and share with family who could not travel.
- Continuous coverage, no gaps charged back to your hours
- Editing on every delivered photograph
- A private digital gallery, full resolution, yours to download
- Print rights, so you can order prints wherever you like
- A written agreement before anything is paid beyond the deposit
Weather, heat and what Jacksonville does in summer
From June to September the practical problem is not rain, it is heat. An outdoor ceremony at two in the afternoon in August is hard on your guests and harder on anyone in a suit.
If you are marrying in summer, push the ceremony as late as the venue allows. If you cannot, build in somewhere shaded for the hour before, and tell me so I can plan portraits around the worst of it rather than through it.

Common questions
Do you charge travel to Jacksonville?
No. Jacksonville, the beaches, Ponte Vedra and Nocatee are all included. I am based in St. Johns County, so this is my own area.
Can you photograph a wedding at a venue you have not worked at before?
Yes, and most photographers do this constantly. I arrive early, walk the space, and find the light before anything starts. A venue I have not shot is not a risk to you.
Do you photograph beach weddings?
Often. The thing to know is that beach ceremonies photograph best late in the day, both for light and for how busy the sand is. Midday on a public beach in summer is the hardest version of it.
How long until I see the photographs?
You will get a small set of previews soon after the wedding, and the full edited gallery follows. I will give you the current turnaround in writing before you book rather than a number that might be out of date here.
Can we pay in instalments?
Yes. A $200 deposit holds the date and the balance can be split into monthly payments ending before the wedding. Ask me and I will set it up.
